Special street cleansing in Waltham Cross
The Council is
to undertake a special cleanse of York Road and King Edward Road,
Waltham Cross on Saturday 31 May 2008 between 9am and 12noon.
Maintaining the cleanliness of streets is difficult where parked
cars impede access to the edge of roads and in some instances
footpaths.
This special cleanse follows consultation with
the Four Swannes Residents Association after contractors were
unable to carry out the cleansing operation scheduled for 16 April
as a result of a number of parked cars, which were blocking the
edge of roads.
The clean-up has been arranged for a Saturday
so that residents will be at home to move their cars and to take
advantage of the absence of cars parked along the roads by
commuters during the week. This will allow mechanical
sweeping of the footpaths and channels. Three other roads;
Cross Road, Kings Road and Queens Road will also be cleansed.
They were put forward by the chair of the Four Swannes Residents
Association as roads which also suffer from commuter parking, and
which were likely to present the Council with the same problems as
those experienced on 16 April at York Road and King Edward
Road.
The street cleansing crews will commence work
in the area from 9am through to around 12noon, starting in York
Road and moving on to King Edward Road, Queens Road, Cross Road
before finishing in Kings Road. Residents have been asked to
assist by removing their cars before 9am on Saturday 31 May 2008 to
enable the Council’s workmen to clean the channels and
footpaths.
The Council has written to residents of York
Road and King Edward Road. Letters have also been delivered
to residents of Cross Road, Kings Road and Queens Road to advise
them of the plan for 31 May.
Residents who think that their roads would
benefit from this street cleansing scheme, or who require further
information can contact the Council on 01992 785577.
