Community Safety Assessment 2010 2011
The local Crime and Disorder Reduction
Partnership (CDRP) has published a draft ‘strategic assessment’ for
2009/10 which will be discussed at next week’s Policy and Resources
Committee. The assessment identifies the key community safety
issues for the local area. The assessment is intelligence-led
and intends to:
- Understand the patterns, trends and shifts
relating to crime, disorder and substance misuse;
- Set clear and robust local priorities to meet
the needs of the local community.
The following are identified local community
safety priorities for the Broxbourne CDRP for 2010/11:
- Reducing Crime
- Managing Offenders
- Tackling Drugs
- Tackling alcohol misuse
- Tackling anti-social behaviour
- Improving feelings of safety in the community
The key findings for the period between
September 2008 and August 2009 are:
- All crime levels reduced by 4.9 per cent (7,890 offences down
to 7,500 offences) in the Borough.
- Criminal damage decreased by 16.5 per cent (1,679 offences down
to 1,414 offences)
- Violent crime decreased by 1 per cent (1,379 offences down to
1,365 offences)
- Vehicle crime decreased significantly (by over 200
offences)
- Anti-social behaviour incidents decreased by 5.7 per cent
There were increases in dwelling burglaries,
which rose by 6 per cent and robbery, which increased by 19.5 per
cent.
