Community safety in Borough

aerial view of Waltham Cross StationOver the coming months, a number of projects will be implemented to improve community safety in the Borough.

In the south of the Borough, the Council, will be developing a local police patrol base in Waltham Cross town centre in partnership with the police.  Whilst the base will not be open to the public, it will place the Police’s Safer Neighbourhood Team at the heart of the community.  There will also be extensions to the town’s centre CCTV system so that it will cover the local subways and the area around Waltham Cross railway station, and the new public car park, which opens in September.  In Cheshunt, additional lighting is to be provided in the area around the astroturf courts at Grundy Park Leisure Centre, to reassure users and deter criminal damage.

In the north of the Borough, the Council has offered £20,000 towards security fencing at the new Wormley Junior School.  Discussions are to be held with local retailers about possible measures to improve community safety in the area around Broxbourne High Road shopping precinct.

Residents can report incidents of anti-social behaviour to the Council by phoning 01992 785577, and incidents of crime to the Police on 0845 330 0222.  Alternatively they can report incidents anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.  Information about community safety is also available in the community and living section.
