Broxbourne Council appoints new committees
At its annual meeting on Tuesday night,
committee chairmen were appointed by Broxbourne Council.
The Leader of the Council remains Councillor
Ken Ayling. The deputy leader is Councillor Jeremy Pearce.
Councillors Bob Bick and David Lewis take up
positions as chairmen for the first time – Community Services
Committee and Finance and Personnel Committee respectively.
Councillor Paul Mason moves from the Planning and Licensing
Committee to chairman of the Environmental Services Committee
where, given the extensive work programme of the Committee in
2008/09, he will be supported by two Vice-Chairmen – former
Chairman Brian Hill and Antonio Infantino.
Councillor Jeremy Pearce moves from Finance
and Personnel to the Planning and Licensing Committee and
Councillor Paul Seeby moves from Community Services to the Scrutiny
Committee.
Leader of the Council, Ken Ayling, continues
at the Policy and Resources Committee as does Brian Perry at the
Service Organisations Board.
Other charges were made to the positions of
vice-chairman and these are set out below along with all the
committee chairmen appointments.
Finance and Personnel Committee
The new Chairman is Councillor D A Lewis, who
lives in Hoddesdon. He was elected in 2005 as a Councillor
for the Rosedale Ward. It is his first Committee Chairmanship.
The new Vice-Chairman is Councillor M J
Kennaugh, who lives in Cheshunt. He was elected in 2004 as a
Councillor for the Bury Green Ward and was previously Vice-Chairman
of the Policy and Resources Committee.
Community Services Committee
The new Chairman is Councillor R B Bick, who
lives in Wormley. Councillor Bick was elected in 2002 as a
Councillor for the Hoddesdon Town Ward. He was previously
Vice-Chairman of the Environmental Services Committee. It is
his first Committee Chairmanship.
Councillor M B J Mills-Bishop continues to
serve as Vice-Chairman after being appointed in 2007.
Councillor Mills-Bishop lives in Cheshunt, and was elected in 2006
as a Councillor for the Goff’s Oak Ward.
Planning and Licensing Committee
The new Chairman is Councillor J Pearce, who
lives in Cheshunt. He was elected in 2003 as Councillor for
the Goff’s Oak Ward and was previously Vice-Chairman and Chairman
of the Finance and Personnel Committee. Councillor Pearce was also
appointed Deputy Leader in May 2006.
Councillor K E Leese will continue to serve as
Vice-Chairman of the Planning and Licensing Committee after being
firstly appointed in 2005. She lives in Goff’s Oak and was
elected in 1999 as a Councillor for the Cheshunt North Ward.
Environmental Services Committee
The new Chairman is Councillor P V Mason, who
was previously Chairman of the Planning and Licensing
Committee. Councillor Mason lives in Cheshunt and was elected
in 1999 as a Councillor for the Wormley/Turnford Ward. He was
re-elected in 2000 serving the Broxbourne Ward.
Previous Chairman of the Committee, Councillor
B F Hill is now Vice-Chairman. Councillor Hill lives in
Hoddesdon and was elected in 1976, serving the Wormley/Turnford
Ward until 2007. He was re-elected in 2007 to serve the Hoddesdon
Town Ward. In recognition of the high workload of the
Committee Chairman, Councillor A Infantino, who works in the
Borough, and was elected in 2007 as a Councillor for the Rye Park
Ward, was named as a second Vice-Chairman.
Policy and Resources Committee
Councillor K A Ayling remains Chairman of the
Policy and Resources Committee after being first appointed in
2005. He lives in Hoddesdon and was elected in 1998 as a
Councillor for the Hoddesdon Town Ward. He was appointed Deputy
Leader in 2003/04 and Leader of the Council from 2005. He was
previously Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Finance and Personnel
Committee.
The new Vice-Chairman is Councillor G
Nicholson, who lives in Hoddesdon, and was elected in 1996 as a
Councillor for the Theobalds Ward. He was re-elected in 1999,
serving the Wormley/Turnford Ward. Councillor Nicholson was
previously Chairman of the Scrutiny Committee
Service Organisations Board
Councillor B A Perry remains Chairman of the
Service Organisations Board after being firstly appointed in
2004. Councillor Perry lives in Broxbourne and was elected in
2002 as a Councillor for the Hoddesdon Town Ward. He was re-elected
in 2003 serving the Broxbourne Ward.
The new Vice-Chairman is Councillor Mrs H V
Jackson, who lives in Cheshunt and was elected in 1988 serving the
Bury Green Ward. She was previously Vice-Chairman of the Community
Services Committee.
Scrutiny Committee
Councillor P N Seeby is the new
Chairman. Councillor Seeby lives in Cheshunt and was elected
in 1991, serving as a Councillor for the Rosedale Ward until 2002.
In 2002 he was elected as a Councillor for the Flamstead End Ward.
He was previously Chairman of the Community Services Committee.
The new Vice-Chairman is Councillor Mrs B L
Perryman, who lives in Hoddesdon and was elected in 2004 as a
Councillor for the Rye Park Ward.
