Strategic Assessment sets out local community safety priorities for coming year
The Broxbourne Community Safety Partnership’s Strategic
Assessment for 2012/13 has been published and is now available on
the Council’s website.
The assessment showed that crime in the Borough had fallen by
six per cent overall in comparison with the same period in the
previous year. Anti-social behaviour (ASB) also reduced
significantly (16.9 per cent) as did alcohol-related crime (eight
per cent) and serious acquisitive crime (18.3 per cent).
The BCS also reported significant reductions in dwelling
burglary which fell 29.1 per cent and vehicle crime, which fell
12.8 per cent, although burglary other (i.e. thefts from sheds and
garages) increased by 40.8 per cent. Fly-tipping, abandoned
vehicles and parking offences were also down.
Meanwhile, public perceptions about crime and ASB issues have
significantly improved over the last year.
The following local community safety priorities are being
recommended for 2012/13:
- Reducing serious acquisitive crime, particularly burglary other
and vehicle crime and more effectively managing offenders
- Continuing to reduce incidents of domestic violence in the
Borough
- Maintaining multi-agency work to deal with parking outside
schools and other illegal/obstructive parking
- Continuing to reduce the levels of anti-social behaviour,
including enviro-crimes
- Continuing to engage members of the public to improve
confidence/reassurance in the Police/Council and improve
perceptions about anti-social behaviour.
The Strategic Assessment 2012/13 can be downloaded from the
‘community safety' section of the
Council’s website. A summary copy is also available from all
Council one stop shops.
