Broxbourne Council is pleased to support the
new coalition government’s call for greater transparency.
“The Government believes that we need to throw open the doors of
public bodies, to enable the public to hold politicians and public
bodies to account.”
The document ‘The Coalition: our programme for
government’ states that the Government will require ‘all councils
to publish items of spending above £500.
Broxbourne Council believes strongly in the
transparency of its finances and has been publishing this
information since December 2009.
Deputy Leader and Chairman of Finance and
Personnel Committee Councillor David Lewis said, “I’m delighted to
say that Broxbourne is ahead of the game and has already taken on
this challenge. Broxbourne has nothing to hide from its tax
payers and we like to lead the way and not wait to be told.”
The document ‘payment to suppliers’ is updated
quarterly and is available online in the Council and Democracy section.
