Hoddesdon’s new signs ‘will reinforce local identity’

Local businessman Kevin Bartlett, Director of
Specsavers in Hoddesdon, thinks new town centre signage will be “an
attractive addition to the town and reinforce its identity to
visitors, residents and business”.
Broxbourne Council developed a proposal to
install three ‘Welcome to Hoddesdon town centre’ signs on the
approaches to the town centre in Amwell Street to the north,
Conduit Lane West to the east and on the High Street / Charlton Way
junction to the south as well as the installation of two
fingerposts and signs from Rye House train station directing
visitors to Hoddesdon town centre, and six fingerposts in town
centre entrances directing visitors to amenities, such as the Civic
Hall and the library. In addition, it is proposed that a town
centre information sign will be installed adjacent to the Clock
Tower.
Local businesses were consulted on the
proposal at the Hoddesdon town centre business forum, held on 2
June 2010. Local residents can view location maps and design of the
signs in the Hoddesdon One Stop Shop for a period of two weeks from
4 June to 17 June or in the community and
living section.
