July U3 bands night
The next U3 Bands Night will take place at Broxbourne Civic
Hall, Hoddesdon on Friday 11 July at 7pm. The five performing
bands have now been confirmed. Performing on the night will
be ‘Dream Sequence’, ‘Reederz’, ‘Dregs of Society’, ‘Ferocity
Lights’ and Leon Colven.
The event focuses on giving talented unsigned bands from
Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire or Essex a chance to perform live at
a large professional venue with a big stage, 700 capacity audience
and professional sound and lighting facilities.
Two 19 year olds from Hertfordshire make up 'Dream Sequence'.
Creating their own brand of Electronica, they produce all the music
in their bedroom studio and have played with the likes of ‘Enter
Shikari’, ‘I Was a Cub Scout’ and ‘Late of the Pier’. Leaving the
crowd at a host of live shows stunned, after only six months they
are building a fan base, and gaining attention, their headline show
recently appearing on Channel 5.
‘Reederz’ are a four piece
pop / rock band from Harlow in Essex. Aged between 12 and 19 years
old and are one of the youngest bands to regularly play at local
music venues in Essex and Hertford. They have also recently won the
south east regional final of Live & Unsigned. They will be
performing in the national Grand Final on 28 June.
‘Dregs of Society’ are a local ska / punk band
that have been around for a couple of years. In their time so far
they have released a few EP's and their stage show is more like a
big party then that of a gig, with conga lines, stage costumes and
additional instruments coming into play.
‘Ferocity Lights’ was started in
January of this year. The main focus of this band is to write
songs they enjoy and to have fun while playing them. Some
of it is punk, some rock and some of it is pure pop.
They have a five track EP and if you want to find out more email
ferocitylights@live.co.uk
and they will send you their mp3 before the show.
Leon Colven who plays and teaches guitar and
bass, formally with ‘The Gaff and The Lullabys’, Leon is also part
of the song writing and production duo ‘The Unteachables’. Leon is
joined by Will Thomas on guitar and backing vocals, Matt Chambers
on bass, Andy Kirby on keyboards and Adam Sweatman playing the
drums.
