New Corporate Plan published
The Council has published a new corporate plan for
2008/11. The Plan replaces the statutory Best Value
Performance Plan. The aim of the Plan is to set out the
Council’s priorities and improve the allocation of resources to
priority areas. The document brings together the Council’s
various business plans, the Community Plan, the financial planning
framework and external assessments of performance, providing a
framework for the annual business planning cycle.
The priorities contained in the Plan have been decided after
extensive consultation with the local community and cover the
issues which matter most to the people of Broxbourne. The plan also
describes how the Council will improve existing services, whilst
continuing to offer excellent value for money. The plan includes a
delivery programme, which will be updated annually.
The Plan identifies opportunities and challenges for 2008/11 and
beyond. Opportunities include increasing electronic means of
communication and service provision, ensuring that the white water
canoe slalom course which is to be constructed in Waltham Cross
provides a catalyst for further improvement activity in the town,
and ensuring that the re-development of the Greater Brookfield
retail site delivers retail, leisure and residential
opportunities. Challenges include demographic changes,
especially increases in the elderly population, climate change and
finding suitable land for housing and other developments.
The Corporate Plan can be viewed here . Copies
are also available from Council one stop shops. A
‘popular’ four page summary of the plan for general readership will
be published shortly.
