Services for older people explored at recent focus group
On Tuesday 24 January, Broxbourne Council held a focus
group to explore residents’ perceptions of services for older
people in the Borough.
The event was held at the Council’s offices and 11 residents
attended. Attendees discussed a number of matters relating to older
people including transport, healthcare, leisure and technology. The
discussion prompted many useful insights. The Council plans to hold
additional sessions in the near future, which will explore some of
the issues raised in greater depth.
Those invited to take part in the focus group were members of
the Broxbourne Citizens’ Panel, a body of local residents who have
requested to be consulted on community matters. The focus group was
the first consultation activity undertaken by the Citizens’
Panel.
The focus group forms part of a wider Council initiative; a
‘stock take’ of older people’s services, which will ensure that
services for older people, on the part of all agencies, are
targeted, relevant and effective.
Anyone wishing to know more about the Citizens’ Panel, including
possible future consultation activities, can visit the ‘consultations' section of the Council’s website.
The site contains a membership application form which can be
completed online in around five-10 minutes.
