Safer communities monitor
Broxbourne’s safer community monitor for the
first quarter of 2008/09, has been published. The monitor
tracks the progress of the Broxbourne Crime and Disorder Reduction
Partnership (BCDRP) in improving community safety in the
Borough.
Between April and June 2008, the BCDRP secured
three Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABCs) and one Anti-Social
Behaviour Order (ASBO) against individuals committing anti-social
behaviour in the Borough. The Police also issued 92 nuisance
‘warning’ letters and made 59 alcohol seizures, and 341 ‘stop and
accounts’ were issued by Police Community Support Officers.
The total number of incidents of ASB reported to the Police has
dropped since the last quarter to 2,221 from 2,458 and the number
of ASB incidents reported to the Council is also down against the
previous quarter (240 from 244). During the period, 47 fixed
penalty notices were issued by the Council for littering and the
Police issued a further 11.
The Monitor contains details on the new
Community Safety Plan for the Borough for 2008-2011, together with
news on a number of projects aimed at improving community safety in
the Borough, which will be implemented over the coming
months. There is also news on local neighbourhood budgets for
community safety.
In addition, the Monitor includes details on
the forthcoming programme of meetings of the Borough’s local
neighbourhood forums and the boroughwide community safety
consultation forum meeting on Thursday 30 October 2008.
Residents can report incidents of anti-social
behaviour to the Council by phoning 01992 785577 and incidents of
crime to the Police on 0845 330 0222. Alternatively they can
report incidents anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555
111. Copies of the new Monitor are available from the
Council’s one stop shops and on the Council’s website via the
community safety link on the front page.
