Safer Community Monitor

Broxbourne’s safer community monitor for the fourth quarter of 2007/08, January to March 2008 has been published.  The monitor tracks the progress of the Broxbourne Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (BCDRP) in improving community safety in the Borough.

Between January and March 2008, the BCDRP secured eight Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABCs) and one Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) against individuals committing anti-social behaviour in the Borough.  The Police also issued 104 nuisance ‘warning’ letters and 416 ‘stop and accounts’ were issued by Police Community Support Officers.  Two fixed penalty notices were issued for sale of alcohol to minors.  This maintains the increased level of enforcement action being taken to address anti-social behaviour.  There was a significant reduction in the level of anti-social behaviour incidents reported to the police and Broxbourne Council compared with the same period last year.

The Monitor outlines the Council’s decision to consider funding further Police Community Support Officers following a review of the value for money and effectiveness of the current contribution made by the Council.

The Monitor includes details on the forthcoming programme of meetings of the Borough’s local neighbourhood forums and the boroughwide community safety consultation forum meeting on Thursday 26 June 2008.  There are also details on police surgeries being held in the Borough to the end of June, and the free burglary protection kits available from Council one stop shops.  In addition, the monitor features information on more youth activities across the Borough organised by the Council and partners.

Residents can report incidents of anti-social behaviour to the Council by phoning 01992 785577 and incidents of crime to the Police on 0845 330 0222.  Alternatively they can report incidents anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.  Copies of the new Monitor are available from the Council’s one stop shops and on the Council’s website via the community safety link on the front page.
