Refuse and recycling collections unaffected by snow
The Council’s in-house contractor, Broxbourne
Services, completed scheduled refuse collections as normal on
Monday 6 February despite heavy snowfall over the weekend.
The majority of kerbside recycling and green waste collections
were also completed, with just a small number of roads made
inaccessible by the conditions. These 19 roads were visited on
Tuesday 7 February and all refuse was collected. Services are
expected to be carried out as normal for the rest of the week.
Collections were supported by front line staff from other
service areas as street cleansing, grounds maintenance and highways
maintenance works were suspended on this day. Town centre cleansing
and litter bin emptying continued as normal.
Spiked overshoes were issued to all staff to help prevent them
from slipping in the difficult conditions.
The Council will continue to publish updates on the front page of the website throughout the week
to keep residents informed in the event of changes to normal
services.
