Winners of Junior Golf Open

winners with Mayor of BroxbourneYoung golf enthusiasts competed in the annual Junior Golf Open at Cheshunt Park Golf Course, Park Lane, Cheshunt on Thursday 24 July. The competition was the first of a programme of summer activities for young people run by Broxbourne Council.

49 young people from various golf clubs in Hertfordshire competed in this well-established competition.  All golfers were under 18 years old and had valid handicap certificates, which meant that the standard of the competition was very high.

A number of competitions took place on the day.  In the ‘Gross’ competition Jordan Shepard from Broxbourne Golf Club came first with a score of Level Par for the round.  In second place was Chris Edwards from the East Hertfordshire Golf Club.

The ‘Best Net’ competition was won by Guillaume Paulin-Booth from the Broxbourne Golf Club with second place going to Ross Tipett, also from Broxbourne Golf Club.   ‘Best Girl’ was awarded to Zara Houchin from the Broxbourne Golf Club. The Longest Drive’ went to Chris Edwards and ‘Nearest to Pin’ was won by Edward Horey.

All winners received trophies and prizes to mark their achievement, which were presented by Broxbourne’s Mayor, Councillor Mrs Carol Crump–Eynon.   Enterprise Plc kindly sponsored the competition, donating £1,000. Without this donation and Enterprise’s hard work to maintain the course the competition would not be possible.
