How to recycle Christmas cards and wrapping paper
After the festive period, used wrapping paper
and Christmas cards can be recycled at local Neighbourhood
Recycling Centres (NRCs).
Residents can take cards and wrapping paper to
their local site and deposit them in the cardboard bank to be
recycled. Residents are asked not to place these items in kerbside
recycling boxes or green wheeled bins as this can contaminate the
load, leading it to being rejected and thrown away.
Some shops are operating Christmas card
recycling schemes where cards are donated to a charity of their
choice. Shops offering this scheme include Marks & Spencer at
the Brookfield Centre and Sainsbury’s in Hoddesdon.
Real Christmas trees can also be recycled.
These should be cut up and placed inside green wheeled bins with
the lid shut to be removed on the next scheduled collection
day.
For more information on recycling collections
over the Christmas period, and the location of your nearest NRC,
please visit the 'environment and
planning' section of the website or call the Council’s Helpline
on 01992 785577.
