Youths pay back the community for anti-social behaviour
Three
local youths aged 15-16, who were required to carry out reparation
work as part of their court sentences at Hertford Youth Court, were
recently put to work within the Borough, after an agreement was
reached between Broxbourne Council and the Youth Offending Team for
Hertfordshire.
The
youths, who had committed minor crimes such as criminal damage,
cleaned graffiti from walls in Bell Lane, Broxbourne.
It is hoped that by carrying out work which directly benefits
the community, young people will understand the impact that their
anti-social behaviour has on the community as a whole, and that
this scheme will help in the rehabilitation of young people.
The scheme also allows them to gain experience in the work
place. The Council will be looking to implement more of these
projects in the coming months.
For further information about this scheme, residents can contact
the Council on 01992 78555 ext. 5609.
