Lowewood Museum offers a range of learning opportunities for all ages.
A wide range of workshops are available, based on popular topics in the history curriculum at Key Stages 1 and 2.
Our Education Officer can deliver workshops in your school or at the museum. All workshops give pupils the chance to work hands on with historical objects and engage in practical activities to learn about life in the past.
We also have loan boxes containing a range of objects on a historical theme, with supporting notes and ideas on how to use them to develop pupils’ knowledge and understanding.
We welcome enquiries from schools looking for something different to our regular programme and will do all we can to arrange something to suit your needs.
Adult groups are welcome to book private visits to the museum outside of regular opening hours.
A museum officer will be on hand to welcome you, give an introduction to the museum and answer any questions you may have during your visit. You are free to explore the galleries at your own pace or can have a special guided tour.
The museum offers a programme of workshops for groups focusing on local history and showcasing aspects of the collection.
Members of the museum team are able to provide talks to interested groups. Talks can take place within the museum or at your group’s venue.
Reminiscence boxes containing nostalgic original objects are available for adult groups, care homes or individuals to borrow. The boxes are free of charge, but must be collected and returned by the hirer. Topics include The Home, Going Out, Childhood and Holidays.
