Residents are reminded that the Council will not collect any waste that is left alongside or on top of their black wheeled refuse bins.
Only refuse that is contained within the black wheeled bins will be collected and the lid of the bin must be closed.
Residents who struggle to fit all of their waste in their black wheeled bins should check that they are recycling cardboard packaging, cartons, plastic packaging and foil take-away containers. These items in particular often take up space in black wheeled bins when they should be put into the correct kerbside recycling boxes. The Council offers personalised waste audits for those who need help reducing the amount they put into their black wheeled bins – residents who need help managing their waste should call the Council’s Helpline on 01992 785577.
Residents who struggle to fit all of their recycling in their kerbside boxes can collect two extra boxes from the Council Offices in Cheshunt or Hoddesdon One Stop Shop (they must provide proof of address).
Surplus waste (that cannot be recycled) can be taken free of charge to a Household Waste and Recycling Centre. There is one at the Brookfield Centre, Cheshunt (open Saturday-Wednesday 10am-6pm) and one in Pindar Road, Hoddesdon (open Thursday-Monday 10am-6pm).
Information about the Borough’s waste and recycling service including what can and cannot be recycled can be found online: http://www.broxbourne.gov.uk/resident/recycling-and-waste .
