Broxbourne’s beautiful and award winning parks are contenders in a competition to discover the public’s top 10 favourite parks.
The People’s Choice Awards 2017 will recognise the most popular parks out of those that have been awarded a Green Flag Award for high standards.
Five sites in the Borough of Broxbourne are in the running. Council managed sites are Cheshunt Park, Cedars Park, Barclay Park, and Top Field and Cozens Grove Local Nature Reserve. The River Lee Country Park, managed by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, is also in the competition.
Councillor Dee Hart, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, said: “We’re very lucky to live in a Borough that has so many award winning parks.
“They’re spaces of stunning beauty that give us a space to relax, be active and enjoy with our friends, family and fellow residents of the Borough.
“Hard work has gone into maintaining our parks, including the work of Friends group volunteers and Council officers. I’d like to invite everyone in the area to celebrate this work and the parks by voting in the People’s Choice awards.”
Voting is open from 1 to 30 September and the process is as simple as choosing your favourite park from a map. All of the UK’s 1,797 Green Flag Award winning parks are eligible. The top 10 will be revealed on 11 October.
