The Council carries out equality impact assessments to:
- Ensure due regard is paid to the Council’s statutory duty to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations between people.
- Improve customer care and service delivery by tackling indirect discrimination.
An equality impact assessment is carried out when a change to a policy, procedure or service is under consideration. The assessment may identify the need to alter the proposals, or to take action to counteract the potential for indirect discrimination.
Recent equality impact assessments are published here.
