FireFox

Broxbourne Council has tried to make this web site as accessible as possible for visitors with a visual impairment. In addition, we are pleased to offer advice to visitors on how to get the most out of their web browsers.

Not everyone finds it easy to read small text and certain text/background colour combinations. If you wish to make the Broxbourne Council web site easier to read all you need to do is make a couple of simple changes in your browser settings.

The following instructions apply to version 1 of Mozilla Firefox on Microsoft Windows.

Change Text Size

To change the size of the text for this browsing session:

  • Select the View menu from the browser toolbar.
  • Select the Text size option.
  • From the menu select whether to Increase or Decrease the text size.

To change the default text size for all websites:

  • On the Tools menu select Options.
  • Under General, select Fonts & Colors.
  • Change the Size (pixels) value to reflect the size at which you want fonts to appear.
  • Tick the Always use my fonts box to ensure that your selection overides web site settings.
  • Click OK to confirm your changes.

Change Text Color

You may also find it helpful to change the colour scheme, for example, to a yellow/black combination.

  • On the Tools menu select Options.
  • Under General, select Fonts & Colors.
  • Tick the Always use my colors box to ensure that your selection overides web site settings.
  • In the Text and Background section:
    • Click the rectangle to the right of Text and choose a text colour (e.g. yellow).
    • Click the rectangle to the right of Background and choose a background colour (e.g. black).
  • Click OK to confirm your changes.

More information on changing your browser preferences is available from Firefox Help: Options/Preferences Window Reference.
