New A10 footbridge helps Council to 'build bridges' with the local community
This gallery provides pictures, maps and information on the A10
footbridge project.
The footbridge crosses the A10 close to the roundabout at the
south eastern end of Lieutenant Ellis Way. The project has
connected communities separated by the A10, a busy dual
carriageway. It has provided a safe route to school
for children travelling to the new St Mary's School site. The
bridge has negated the need for children to use a
Toucan crossing or make a long detour to the school. In addition,
the bridge has also opened up the east and west links to the
countryside, especially the links to the public right of way
network and the Lee Valley Regional Park. Planning permission for
the bridge was granted in February 2008, construction works
commenced in March 2010 and the bridge was officially opened in
November 2010.
