All business properties in England occupied by the ratepayer must be listed in this application.

It should be noted that, for any particular day, the billing authority will disregard the ratepayer’s occupation of an additional property in England where:-

       (a)   The rateable value of each additional hereditament* in the local non-domestic rating list for that day is not more than £2,599; and

       (b)   The aggregate rateable value of all hereditaments* the ratepayer occupies, including the hereditament* for which the relief is                            requested is not more than £17,999.

* A hereditament is a property on which business rates are payable.

If you receive Small Business Rate Relief and subsequently occupy a second property you must notify the Council’s business rate section immediately.

This application must be completed by the ratepayer or a person authorised to sign on behalf of the ratepayer.  This means, where the ratepayer is:-

  • a partnership, a partner of the partnership;
  • a limited company, a director of that limited company
  • a trust, a trustee of that trust
  • and in any other case a person duly authorised to sign on behalf of the ratepayer.

The value of the business rates relief to be provided to the above named company by the Borough of Broxbourne is a maximum of 50% of the liability.

This award shall comply with the EU law on State Aid on the basis that, including this award, the above named company shall not receive more than €200,000 in total of De Minimis aid within the current financial year or the previous two financial years. In terms of declaring previous de minimis aid, the Council is only interested in public support which is de minimis aid; state aid received under other exemptions or public support which is not state aid does not need to be declared.

A copy of this completed application form will be sent to the email address supplied above.  Under the European Commission rules, you must retain this completed application form for 3 years from the date you completed it and produce it on any request by the UK public authorities or the European Commission. You may need to keep this application form longer than 3 years for other purposes.  Furthermore, information on this aid must be supplied to any other public authority or agency asking for information on ‘de minimis’ aid for the next three years.
