The Cabinet is the body which makes the majority of the Council’s executive decisions. The membership of the Cabinet is chosen by the Leader of the Council; each member is given responsibility for specific functions of the Council.

The Cabinet meets around eight times per year and meetings are open to the public. From time to time the Cabinet may appoint panels or groups of councillors to consider specific issues. The Council is required to give notice before the Cabinet takes "key decisions"; such notices are logged on the 'Decision-making' page.
