I would like advice regarding grant funding for a sports team or community event

What the Council can do

The Council can support you with advice on a community project. There are several Council-led programmes in support of funding for community projects:

Community lottery

Broxbourne Lottery helps local voluntary organisations, charities and community groups to raise funds. It is an online lottery with a weekly draw. The top prize is £25,000.

Community grants

Every year the Council invites applications from local not-for-profit organisations for three types of subsidies for the year ahead:

  • non-domestic rate (NDR) relief - discount on business rates
  • facility subsidies - discount on the hire of Council facilities
  • notional rental - discount on rent for tenants of Council properties

Applications open in November, close in December and are awarded in February.

Opportunities for Excellence

You can apply for the Opportunities for Excellence grant aid by completing the form below. This is a scheme for young people in sports.

Applicants must:

  • be 11-30 years old
  • be performing above the county standard
  • be a resident of the Borough
  • not have applied within the last 12 months

Only one application per person, per year will be accepted. Successful applicants will receive a full one year gym membership to either:

  • the John Warner Sports Centre
  • the Laura Trott Leisure Centre
