Mental health services for children and young people 

In an emergency, if you or someone else is at risk of harm, call 999 or visit your nearest Accident and Emergency department.

For urgent help or if you need to speak to someone:

Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust – Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) 

Specialist child and adolescent mental health services treating emotional and behavioural problems in children and adolescents. Problems include depression, anxiety and phobias. Behavioural problems include extreme aggression at home and school, delinquency and attention deficit hyperactive disorder. Other serious issues can be anorexia, schizophrenia and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Presenting problems can be self-harm or taking overdoses, non-school attendance, school exclusion, or police involvement.  

If you need to make a referral or talk about an urgent mental health problem call the Single Point of Access (SPA) on 0300 777 0707.

Healthy Young Minds in Herts

Healthy Young Minds in Herts provides information about emotional health and well-being support for young people in Hertfordshire.

Kooth

Children and young people in Hertfordshire can get free online emotional and mental health support using the Kooth website. If you are aged between 10 and 25 and registered with a Hertfordshire GP surgery, you can sign up, choose an avatar (an online character) to represent you anonymously and have an online chat with a counsellor or therapist.

The Children and Young People (CYP) provision for those feeling isolated and experiencing distress is available remotely through webinars, video call, telephone and chat forums.
