If you want to complain about the conduct of a member of Broxbourne Borough Council, you must submit a complaint form and any supporting evidence by post or email to:

The complaint form can be downloaded from the right of the page. The Council will acknowledge receipt of your complaint and advise how your complaint will be handled within ten working days.
The Monitoring Officer is only able to consider complaints that a member has breached the Council's Code of Conduct. This is set out at Part 5 of the Council's Constitution. On receiving the complaint, the Monitoring Officer will consult with the Council's Independent Person, who has been appointed to consider complaints that members have breached the Code of Conduct.
If the Monitoring Officer and Independent Person agree that further review of the complaint is required, then the complaint will be referred to the Council's Audit and Standards Committee. The Committee will decide to either reject the complaint or investigate the matter further. Following an investigation a hearing will be held, and the Committee will then recommend to the Council what action, if any, is appropriate to resolve the complaint. The full Council will take the final decision on the outcome of the complaint.
The Council's powers to deal with complaints are limited. If a complaint is upheld, the Council is able to either formally censure the member or request that they undertake training, if considered appropriate.
