Please be aware that some residents have reported receiving scam emails claiming to be about a 'Council Tax Refund'. A genuine notification will not ask you to click on a link within the email, and any email asking for personal details would come directly from a member of the Council Tax team with a broxbourne.gov.uk or a welhat.gov.uk email address.
Please do not click on a link within, or submit any personal details in response to, an email which you suspect may not be genuine. If you require further clarification about an email please contact the Council’s Helpline, asking for the Council Tax office, on 01992 785577 or firstname.lastname@example.org For more advice and information on fraudulent emails please visit the gov.uk website.
Paying your council tax
Please note that there is an additional 2% charge for paying by credit card. There is no charge if you make payment by debit card.
Pay by Direct Debit and you have a choice of payment dates - 1st, 15th or 25th of the month over either 10 or 12 instalments. Spreading payment over 12 months reduces the monthly instalment.
If you have not yet opted for Direct Debit, we can arrange for you to pay this way over the telephone so please contact the council tax team on 01992 785504.
Alternatively, you can obtain a form by:
- Downloading the latest Direct Debit instruction from 'Documents' to the right of this page
- Telephoning the council tax team on 01992 785504
- Emailing us via the contact form
Completed Direct Debit instructions may be returned to the Council either in person or by post.
If you do not pay by Direct Debit your council tax is due as per the instalments set out on your bill. If you have not expressed a preference these instalments will be set to fall due on the first of the month over 10 months between April, the beginning of the financial year, and the following January.
