The spring 2019 edition of The Guide offers young people aged 11-19 an enticing range of free or low-cost activities, seven days a week in The Borough of Broxbourne. Sports sessions, youth clubs and discos feature in the latest programme of activities.
There are a variety of free sports sessions on offer. A community basketball session runs 7-9pm on Monday nights (for ages 13-19) in Cheshunt, the popular Friday Youth Sports Night session (for ages 11+) continues at the John Warner Sports Centre 8-9pm, and there is football on Friday evenings at The Laura Trott Leisure Centre Astroturf (for ages 11+) at 6-8pm.
Young people are encouraged to take part in their community and put the voice of the young people to the Council, alongside training to become Democracy Ambassadors, at Broxbourne Youth Council’s fortnightly Wednesday meetings at 7-9pm.
The Next Generation Youth Club at Boundary Park on the Plomer Avenue Estate takes place every Thursday night 7.30-9pm for those aged 13-16. Or attend the community pop up cinema on the first Friday of the month at Wormley Free Church.
The X-plosion disco, for pupils in school years 7, 8 and 9, is from 7.30-10.30pm at Goffs School on 1 February, 1 March and 26 April. Tickets can be bought in advance from The Laura Trott Leisure Centre for £5.60 or at £6.50 on the door. Prices increase for 26 April event to £5.70 in advance or £7 on the day.
