The nomination process for the 2019 Broxbourne Youth Awards has now closed. 274 nominations were received celebrating the achievements of amazing local young people and those who support them. Those who have been shortlisted for an award will be invited to the award ceremony at the Spotlight, Hoddesdon on Friday 29 March 2019 where the winners will be announced. The 2019 Youth Awards are sponsored by Aldwyck Housing Group, CEG, Cheshunt FC, Inland Homes and Tesco.

The 2019 award categories are as follows:
1. Young Volunteer of the year
A.young person aged 11-19 living or attending school or college in the Borough of Broxbourne who has regularly volunteered at a charity or community project in 2018. The nomination should mention how often they have volunteered and what makes them stand out.
2. Youth Project of the Year
Any project based in the Borough of Broxbourne for young people aged 11-19. It could be an ongoing project, a one-off event or a short time-limited activity that takes place in schools or the community. It could be based around sport, arts, environment, citizenship, health, mentoring, faith or leadership. State how often the project takes place and approximately how many people participate.
3. Youth Disability Project of the Year
Any club or project based in the Borough of Broxbourne which caters for young people (11-25) with additional needs. The club/project needs to have been meeting during 2018.
4. Club of the Year
Any club for young people based in the Borough of Broxbourne which has some form of membership. It can be school or community based, a sports club, performing arts group, dance school, environmental project or based around a hobby. The nomination should state why this club is special and how many people are members.
5. Youth Worker Award
Any youth worker (paid or voluntary) working in the Borough of Broxbourne in 2018 who has been an inspiration to young people. The nomination should state how this person has made a positive difference in young people’s lives.
6. Young Person’s Achievement Award
Any young person who lives in the Borough who in 2018 overcame adversity, gained national recognition, showed entrepreneurship or achieved something significant for charity.
7. Apprentice of the Year
This award is open for any apprentice aged 16 to 22 living or working in the Borough of Broxbourne in 2018 who has built up knowledge and skills to shine in the workplace and has pushed themselves to gain the qualifications needed to be ready for work.
8. Young Person’s Contribution to the Environment
This award is for any young person or group of young people living, working or studying in the Borough of Broxbourne in 2018 who have provided a service to improve the environment for the benefit of the local community.
9. Inspirational Secondary School Staff
This is for any member of staff working in a Secondary School in the Borough of Broxbourne who goes beyond the call of duty to inspire, encourage and support their pupils.
10. Young Person’s Contribution to Culture
This award is for any young person living or studying in the Borough of Broxbourne who has made a contribution towards promoting encouraging or demonstrating culture in the Borough. Culture includes performing arts, music, dance, film, photography, Museums and heritage, literature, poetry, sculpture.
11. Young Carer’s Award
This award is for any young person living or studying in the Borough of Broxbourne who has caring responsibilities for a family member. The nomination should detail the level of care they provide and how they do not let these responsibilities limit them or drag them down.
12. Dame Marion Roe Young Citizen Award
Any outstanding young person living or studying in the Borough of Broxbourne who has shown great commitment and credit to the Borough in 2018
13. Todd Waldock Young Entrepreneur Award
Named in honour of a young man from the Borough who sadly passed away, this award recognises young entrepreneurs who live or study in the Borough of Broxbourne.
