I would like to apply for a disabled parking bay

Before you apply

Special parking spaces are available to allow blue badge holders to park near their homes. Blue badge bays are provided free of charge and available for any blue badge holder to use.

Blue badge bays are provided at locations where there is:

  • high demand for on street parking
  • no alternative parking (garage or driveway)

You can apply for a bay if:

  • you are a blue badge holder
  • the vehicle is frequently used by the blue badge holder
  • the vehicle is permanently based at the blue badge holder's address
  • the driver of the vehicle is a resident at the blue badge holder's address

You may also apply for a bay on behalf of a blue badge holder, if all of the above apply to them.

We'll check that:

  • your blue badge is valid (if your badge expires in the next three months, you will need to renew it before applying for a disabled parking bay)
  • the vehicle is registered to your house and kept at the badge holder’s address
  • it's safe to mark a bay near your house i.e. it doesn't adversely affect free pedestrian or vehicle movement or restrict visibility
  • no more than 10% of the available parking in the street is for disabled parking
  • you don't have another place to park
  • there is a significant demand for parking in the road
  • there are no legal restrictions to marking a bay such as yellow lines or controlled parking zones
