This programme supports the piloting of new innovative projects and practices from local businesses and social enterprises. This grant funding helps to support the Council’s Corporate plan for 2025-2029 and the following key corporate priorities to create ‘a thriving economy’ and ‘an attractive, safe and sustainable environment’.
Grants of between £5000 and £15,000 are available. The Council is seeking to support projects that are readily deliverable and are innovative, sustainable or digital-focused. Grant funding cannot be utilised to cover overheads such as rent or business rate payments. Eligible local businesses are those that have a physical premises in the Borough of Broxbourne.
We are seeking applications from SMEs in Broxbourne; this means organisations with equal to and less than 250 staff and less than or equal to an annual turnover of £44 million.
Examples of eligible projects include:
Innovative:
- To encourage the revitalisation of community assets such as abandoned commercial units.
- To assist in upskilling workforce members through short courses and accreditations.
- Improving shopfront signage.
- Schemes to support local tourism and high streets.
- To invest in new machinery such as 3D printing devices
Sustainability:
- Use of more sustainable energy solutions such as use of solar panels or heat source pumps.
- Innovations that support local, sustainable, and circular supply chains.
Digital:
- Digital tools for organisations to better market their offer online or improve supply side/logistics oversight.
- Digital solutions to improve social care.
- Use of new AI technologies and training.
Applications for this grant programme will run from 25 September 2026 to 31 October 2026. Limited funds are available so a grants panel will grade and select the best applicants.
Successful applicants will be notified within a month of the closing date. Funding will be distributed within a month of the application being approved, subject to banking details being received.
