Apply for a mobile home or caravan site licence

Exemptions

You do not require a licence if:

  • the site is within the boundary of a dwelling house (for example, parking an unused caravan on the driveway would be exempt, however, if the caravan is in use it would not be exempt)
  • the site is approved by certain organisations, including the Caravan Club, the Camping Club of Great Britain and Ireland, the Boy Scouts Association and the Girl Guides Association
  • the site is owned or occupied by the Council
  • the site is occupied by agricultural or forestry workers on a seasonal basis
  • the site is for temporary purposes such as caravan rallies, agricultural and forestry workers, building and engineering sites and travelling salesmen
  • the site is occupied by travelling showmen
  • the site contains up to five caravans certified by an exempt organisation and which are for members only
  • the site is for a single caravan sited for not more than two consecutive nights for a maximum of 28 days in any 12 months
  • the site is for up to three caravans on a site of not less than five acres for a maximum of 28 days in any 12 months

A site for tents only can be used for a maximum of 28 days in any 12 months.
