The Mayor's chosen charities are Stargardt's Connected and The James Foundation.
Stargardt’s Connected exists to ensure that no one faces Stargardt's disease alone. This rare inherited eye condition causes progressive central vision loss and currently has no treatment or cure. The charity provides a supportive community, practical information, and events and activities that help individuals and families feel connected, informed and empowered. By raising awareness and funding essential research, Stargardt’s Connected is working towards a future where effective treatments are available and everyone affected by the condition can live with greater confidence, independence, and hope.
The James Foundation is a community charity created in memory of James, supporting families after baby loss through local peer support, hospital and funeral director partnerships, free paediatric first aid training, and meaningful remembrance projects such as the Memorial Tree in Cedars Park, ensuring no family grieves alone and every baby is remembered.
