Seams Subverted - Textile as Art

An exhibition celebrating contemporary textile practice, presenting innovative stitched and fabric artworks by 18 members of the Eastern Region Textile Forum.

Textile as Art invites visitors to see fabric and stitch in a bold new light. Curated and presented by local artist Ruth Herbert, this vibrant exhibition showcases the work of 18 artists from the Eastern Region Textile Forum, each bringing fresh perspectives and inventive approaches to textile-based art. 

The exhibition runs from 2 May to 25 July 2026, and can be viewed on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 4.30pm, on the ground floor of the Lowewood Cafe at Lowewood Museum. Many of the displayed works are available to purchase, offering visitors the chance to take home a unique piece of textile art. 

An artist 'meet and greet' and art sale will take place on Friday 15 May, 3-6pm. An opportunity to meet the artists and discuss the inspiration behind their work.
