What you can do
The Council may be able to assist you if you have been asked to leave your home by receiving a valid eviction notice. Before contacting the Council you should talk to your landlord about staying where you are.
Things you can do to prevent your homelessness:
- If there are any issues about the tenancy or the home, have a conversation with your landlord if there is any way these can be resolved
- If you are in rent arrears, have you discussed with your landlord about creating a payment plan to clear the arrears alongside your rent
- If your rent has increased and you can no longer afford it, you can use the online benefits calculator to help you find out what benefits you may be able to claim
- You can begin looking for other private rented properties on the market to move to
- Register with Homefinder UK
- Identify any other places where you have a right to live
After you have done this, if you still need more help and support you can ask the Council for assistance.
