His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh

A statement from Councillor David Taylor, the Mayor of Broxbourne.

The Mayor of Broxbourne, Councillor David Taylor, has expressed his sadness over the death of His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh.

“It is with deep sadness that we mourn the loss of His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh. On behalf of all the residents of the Borough and the councillors and officers of Broxbourne Council, I would like to offer deepest sympathies to the Royal Family on his passing.

“As Britain’s longest-serving consort and The Queen’s companion for more than seven decades, the prince has inspired many across the country throughout his years of service.

Residents wishing to pay their respects can lay flowers at one of the four memorial areas set aside in the Borough:

  • The Council Offices, Cheshunt
  • Cedars Park, Cheshunt
  • The Jubilee Gardens, Hoddesdon
  • Barclay Park, Hoddesdon

Owing to the pandemic, the Council asks all mourners to observe social distancing and the entrance and exit routes that are in place. Information on the locations and safe routes in and out of the tribute areas can be found here.
