Free physical activity and healthy eating sessions return this May

Fit and Fed, a national programme that combines free physical activities with healthy food choices, is returning to Waltham Cross during the May half term holidays.

From Tuesday 30 May to Friday 2 June, between 9.30am and 1pm, Broxbourne Borough Council will be delivering healthy balanced meals and snacks alongside sport and physical activity at Isabella House Nursery, Longcroft Drive, Waltham Cross, EN8 7PA.

The programme is open to children and young people aged 8 to 16 years who are in receipt of free school meals. It aims to tackle the triple inequalities of holiday hunger, physical inactivity and social isolation.

The free activity sessions will provide young people with a free nutritious lunch and give participants the opportunity to partake in enriching activities including arts and crafts, board games, nerf wars, football, dodgeball, tennis, rounder and plenty of playground games.

Parents or guardians will need to book their children onto the programme by Friday 26 May. For more information or to book a place, please contact Broxbourne Borough Council’s Community Development Team at Community@Broxbourne.gov.uk or call 01992 785555 extension 1519.
