Local Treasure Maps Launch to Entertain and Educate Families on the Borough’s fascinating History

The Council has launched two new Treasure Trail Maps illustrating historical landmarks and well-known features in Hoddesdon and Cheshunt town centres.

The animated maps, take families on an adventure around the town centres to hunt for hidden treasures. Upon successfully completing the trail, an ‘explorer’ can move up a rank and obtain a certificate directly from the creator’s Treasure Trail Academy webpage.

The two maps feature different themes, with Hoddesdon’s illustrating an animated town centre invaded by ‘fantastical animals’, and the Cheshunt Map depicting an invasion by ‘dragons’ seemingly settling into familiar modern-day activities.

The timeless creations give families the flexibility to complete the trail in one go, or in phases as desired. The maps also contain a wealth of historical information and fun facts about the town centres which will leave all explorers with greater knowledge about the local areas.

Councillor Steve Wortley and Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Growth said:

This is such a great addition to the Borough’s portfolio of activities. Each town centre in Broxbourne has so much to offer and it is fantastic to see these locations coming to life in a totally different but still entertaining format. This will no doubt be a hit among children and adults, who will not only benefit from a fun experience but also an educational one.

The maps which have been created by Treasure Map Trails, were organised by Broxbourne Borough Council with support from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. As part of the launch, a limited number of free copies have been made available to collect from local libraries and Lowewood Museum.

A map for Waltham Cross town centre is also in production and due to be released following the completion of the Waltham Cross Regeneration works.
