Broxbourne Celebrates Sustainability with the Great Big Green Week

Broxbourne Borough Council is pleased to announce an exciting programme of events as part of this year’s Great Big Green Week, taking place from Saturday 7 June.

The week-long celebration will feature a variety of engaging, family-friendly activities aimed at encouraging residents to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle and connect with the environment.

Delivered in partnership with local organisations, the programme includes events and initiatives for all ages and interests. Residents are invited to take part in a range of activities designed to inspire green thinking and positive environmental action across the Borough.

Events during the special week include the Broxbourne Big Green Fest at Cedars Park on Sunday 8 June. Attendees will be able to enjoy a fun-filled day with three themed Swap Shops where pre-loved books, toys and plants can be exchanged. The event will also feature hands-on workshops in textile and wood upcycling, as well as talks designed to inform and inspire sustainable living.

A series of Gardening and Allotment Open Days will also be held, giving visitors a chance to explore local green spaces, share gardening tips, and learn more about sustainable food cultivation.

Nature Walks and Birdwatching events are also an exciting part of the programme, giving visitors of all levels of experience the opportunity to discover the diverse birdlife across the Borough on guided walks led by local nature experts.

The popular Dr Bike pop-up will also make a return to Cedars Park, with a series of four Dr Bike sessions to be held throughout the week. The pop-up offers free bicycle maintenance checks by experienced mechanics.

A full schedule of events, including dates, times, and locations, is available on the Council’s website at www.broxbourne.gov.uk/events.
