Up to £30k of home energy improvements available to qualifying households!

The Warm Homes Local Grant is a government scheme that provides energy performance upgrades and low carbon heating to qualifying households in the Borough.

Broxbourne Borough Council is working with the National Energy Foundation to deliver the government’s Warm Homes Local Grant scheme locally.

Eligible households may receive fully funded energy efficiency improvements and low carbon heating measures worth up to £30,000 per home which will reduce energy bills, make your home warmer and tackle damp and mould. Energy efficiency measures may include wall, loft and underfloor insulation, heating controls, draught-proofing, double or triple glazing, solar photovoltaic panels, and heat pumps.

Both privately owned and privately rented households are eligible. Homes must meet the criteria which includes an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) rating of D, E, F, or G. In addition, one of the following criteria must also be met; an eligible postcode as set out by the government; receipt of means-tested benefits; or an annual household income below £36,000 per year (inclusive of tax).

Cllr Clune, Cabinet Member for Environment and Community Safety added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Broxbourne residents to bring down their energy bills cost and make their homes more comfortable. Eligible residents could benefit from free measures ranging from insulation and double glazing to heat pumps and solar panels worth up to £30,000.”

You can quickly find out more about the above criteria and if you’re eligible, by using the government's eligibility checker at www.gov.uk/apply-warm-homes-local-grant or by calling the National Energy Foundation’s Better Housing Better Health helpline on 0800 107 0044 (free to call, weekdays 9am-5pm).

If the privately rented property has an EPC rating of D-G and the tenant meets the eligibility criteria, the grant will fully fund upgrades for one property per private landlord. Any subsequent properties owned by the same landlord will require a 50% landlord cost contribution towards the total cost of works.

Residents in social housing should contact their landlord. B3Living received funding from the Warm Homes: Social Housing fund counterpart.
