Youth Council Elections 2025

The annual Youth Council Elections took place on the evening of Wednesday 8 October 2026 in the Council Chamber.

Members cast their votes for the positions of Youth Mayor, Deputy Youth Mayor, Recruitment Officer, and the newly introduced role of Health Officer. The event was attended by Councillor Patsy Spears, Mayor of Broxbourne.

Havana Marshall, a Year 13 student at Broxbourne School, was successfully re-elected as Youth Mayor. Having held the role over the past year, Havana is delighted to continue serving for the 2025/26 academic year. As the Borough’s seventh Youth Mayor, she remains committed to amplifying young people’s voices and leading impactful projects that benefit both the community and the lives of others.

The role of Deputy Youth Mayor was awarded to Tej Nundah, a Year 10 student at Goffs Academy. Previously serving as Recruitment Officer, Tej is pleased to make a natural progression into the Deputy position and is eager to support Havana in the year ahead.

The closely contested race for Recruitment Officer was won by Ayla Kayaga, also a Year 10 student at Goffs Academy. Meanwhile, Anastasia Filimonova, a student at Hertford Regional College in Broxbourne, was elected as the Borough’s first Health Officer.

The Youth Mayor is a young person aged 11–17, elected by and representing their peers. They contribute to discussions that impact young people, raising issues where appropriate. The Youth Mayor also chairs the Broxbourne Youth Council, which is open to all young people aged 11–17 who live or study in the Borough of Broxbourne. Both the Youth Mayor and the Youth Council are politically neutral.
