Work Begins on New Wormley Allotments

Construction work on new allotments at Church Lane, Wormley, started in September this year and is progressing well.

The development, approved in November 2022, will provide replacement allotments for those at Halfhide Lane, which will make way for the Brookfield Riverside and Garden Village project.

The allotments will feature up to 45 individual plots, new parking areas, and improved landscaping. A large area of open space to the north of the site will remain undisturbed to protect biodiversity, and a sustainable drainage system will be installed to manage surface water and enhance local wildlife habitats.

Councillor Paul Mason, Cabinet Member for Planning, said:

The start of works at Wormley allotments marks an exciting milestone in delivering new, high-quality facilities for our residents. This project not only secures allotment provision for the future but also enhances the landscape and ecology of the site.

The new allotments are expected to be ready for use once construction is complete in early spring 2026, with further updates to be provided as the project progresses.
