Nominations are now closed for the 2026 Elections

Nominations are now closed for the forthcoming Borough Council election and for the Hertfordshire County Council By-Election for the Flamstead End and Turnford Division.

One seat is being contested in each of the 10 wards and for the Flamstead End and Turnford County Division

A list of candidates can be viewed online. Candidates contesting the seats are members of the Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrats, Green, Reform UK and Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition Parties.

Polling will take place on Thursday 7 May 2026 from 7am to 10pm, with the election count taking place in the evening after close of polling.

Residents wanting to register to vote can do so by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or by contacting the Council’s Election Office. The registration deadline is Monday 20 April 2026. Anybody who has recently received an election poll card is already registered.

  • Electors who wish to vote by post need to apply to the Council by 5pm on Tuesday 21 April 2026.
  • Electors who wish to appoint a proxy to vote on their behalf need to apply to the Council by 5pm on Tuesday 28 April 2026.

Photo ID must be shown when voting at a polling station. When voting via post, photo ID is not required.
