Broxbourne Gears Up for Great Big Green Week 2026

Great Big Green Week 2026 will be running this year from Saturday 6 to Sunday 14 June, with a programme of free community events celebrating local action on climate change and nature protection.

The event is coordinated nationally by The Climate Coalition, with last year’s edition seeing more than one million people across the country take part in thousands of events — from repair cafés and nature walks to community clean-ups and wildlife activities.

The national theme for this year is Together for Good, recognising the power of communities coming together to protect the natural world and tackle climate change.

Broxbourne’s involvement has grown over the past three years, offering up to 18 events across 12 venues in the Borough in 2025 alone.

Events for this year include an allotment open day led by Broxbourne Big Local, birdwatching and nature walks with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, and free Dr Bike maintenance sessions, among other activities.

The centrepiece of the Borough’s programme is the second Broxbourne Big Green Fest, taking place at Cedars Park on Sunday 7 June. The free family-friendly event will be held in the area around the Cedars Park Café, with the meeting room hosting talks throughout the day.

Visitors can expect activities such as textile upcycling, bird box making and building energy-saving workshops, as well as a free Dr Bike cycle maintenance stall. Cedars Nature Centre is also joining the celebrations this year, leading a nature scavenger hunt for children.

Details of all events will be listed on the Council’s events webpage and on the national Great Big Green Week events map at www.greatbiggreenweek.com.

All events are free to attend and open to everyone. For additional information, please email the Sustainability team at Sustainability@broxbourne.gov.uk.
