New Agent-Ex: Search bar is now live on the Council website

Broxbourne Borough Council is now the third in the country to include Jadu’s Agent-Ex: Search tool on its website.

The advanced function has previously been rolled out to Medway Council and Lichfield District Council, with users and Council staff commending the success of the new technology.

The new artificial intelligence (AI) feature will replace Broxbourne Council’s conventional search bar and the existing chatbot. With advanced capabilities, Agent-Ex: Search will connect website users directly with the information they want. Users will ask the search bar a question and it will either provide a helpful summary or will direct them to other sites where more in-depth information may be found. Even just typing in one keyword can prompt the AI search tool to compile the most relevant information.

If the query posed by the website user is outside of the Council’s responsibility, the AI search bar will signpost users to the relevant page on the Hertfordshire County Council website where necessary. The tool has been developed by Jadu specifically for the public sector. It does not have access to personal data and only uses publicly available content from the Council’s website, ensuring a safe and trusted experience for residents.

Jeff Stack, Chief Executive of Broxbourne Borough Council, said:

This is going to change the way residents are linked up to the services they rely on. The new search bar is very advanced and has improved capabilities to handle online queries.

In addition to easily digestible responses, the new tool can respond to queries in 70 different languages, helping to promptly serve more customers than ever before with improved accessibility.

Paul Stanton, Jadu’s Head of UX, R&D and AI, said:

The launch of Agent‑Ex: Search at Broxbourne Borough Council marks a significant step forward in how digital public services are delivered in the area.

From the beginning, we shared a clear ambition: to give residents a faster, more intuitive way to get the information they need. Working closely with the Council, we’ve ensured the technology directly supports the way people search for information and access services.

Introducing an AI‑powered search experience that is intuitive, secure and built for the public sector is more than a technical upgrade, it’s a practical improvement in how people access the services they rely on, and Broxbourne is demonstrating how innovation can meaningfully set a new standard for local government digital services.
