Waltham Cross Sports Festival returns for summer 2026

Waltham Cross Sports Festival returns this summer, giving people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to try a new sport for free.

Taking place on Saturday 15 August from 12noon to 4pm at Waltham Cross Playing Fields, the festival will feature basketball, football, mini-tennis, calisthenics, skateboarding, boxing and cycling.

No charge for entry and equipment is provided. The focus with this event is connecting local people with what might be their new favourite sport.

The Playing Fields are in their second year of hosting community events following major works completed in 2024. The Sports Pavilion, refurbished by Belfry Property Services, now features modernised and fully accessible facilities, including spacious meeting rooms, a newly equipped kitchen, and updated toilets and showers.

Since these major works have been completed, facilities such as the skatepark and the interactive Sutu Rebound Football Wall have drawn in visitors and organisations from across the Borough and beyond.

Councillor Pierce Connolly, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, said:

The Waltham Cross Sports Festival is a fantastic opportunity for residents of all ages to get active, try something new, and enjoy everything on offer at the Waltham Cross Playing Fields. Events like this are exactly what community spaces should be used for, and I encourage everyone to come along and take part.
