Changes to Council Tax Support that may affect you
The following changes may affect your Council Tax support:
- for each pound of income you have that exceeds the amount allowed to meet basic living needs, 25p is now used to reduce your benefit
- Second Adult Rebate has been removed for working age claimants
- backdating has been replaced with an automatic start date of your claim up to three months prior to the Council receiving a claim for Council Tax support (as long as you have a liability for that period)
- non-dependant deductions have been condensed (per non-dependant)
- the extended payment period has been extended to six weeks
