Availability and types of temporary accommodation
The Council has a limited number of temporary accommodation units available, and demand can be very high. Sometimes the Council will have to procure accommodation from external providers which may not be in the Borough.
The Council will review the information captured by the Housing Solutions team, and aim to place households in suitable accommodation. The Temporary Accommodation team will discuss the accommodation available with you.
Types of Accommodation
- Shared facilities: Some temporary accommodation has shared bathrooms and kitchens with other residents
- Self-contained units: Other accommodation includes private facilities for your household only
During your homelessness assessment, we'll determine which type of accommodation is most appropriate for your circumstances.
Temporary accommodation units are typically smaller than permanent housing. In some cases, you may need to use the living room as a bedroom to accommodate your household size.
