A new pilot incentive scheme is launching on 1 May 2026 to encourage landlords and letting agents to bring properties onto the Simple Lets scheme.
The scheme applies to properties of all sizes, both within and outside the Borough of Broxbourne, and will run for one year or until funding is fully allocated.
The incentive rates apply to a range of property owners and agents, with new landlords due to receive £750 and new property owners getting £1,000.
On top of that, the scheme includes a £300 referral incentive and £400 for existing Simple Lets properties being re-let within the programme.
The Simple Lets scheme has been set up to make the entire process of letting properties more streamlined, effective and efficient. The scheme assists Broxbourne property owners through Council payment for the deposit and first month's rent in advance, free assured shorthold tenancies, and accompanied viewings.
The scheme also provides support with right to rent checks, property inspections, and tenancy support, if needed.
The Council holds a Landlords' Forum every six months (in April and October) for private landlords and letting agents to receive updates on the latest legislation, receive information and advice from guest speakers and to discuss housing matters with Council officers from the Simple Lets, Housing Support, and Environmental Health teams.
